Going Beyond Standard Nutrition Guidelines

The NRN curriculum was built from reputable sources such as:
National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC)
Nutrient Reference Values (NRVs) for Australia & NZ
Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) & Australian Sports Commission
Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW)
…but it recognises these guidelines as insufficient for up-to-date, personalised nutrition advice.
All nutrition guidelines, including the Australian Dietary Guidelines (ADGs), use a one-size-fits-all approach. It is worth noting that the last ADG update was in 2013, meaning they do not incorporate the latest research on biochemistry, microbiome health, or anything resembling individualized nutrition.
As an NRN, I go beyond static guidelines by using a combination of peer-reviewed literature, industry expertise, and personalized strategies to develop tailored, research-backed solutions for my clients. My goal is to help you navigate conflicting nutrition information with confidence, ensuring holistic, adaptable, and science-driven health recommendations.

What we will do together

Initial Consult (1 session)
Together we’ll check your eligibility for working with me, find out where you are at, what you are eating and drinking, subjective health markers given recent medical data, what your concerns are, your unrealised goals, your living and working and relational / care obligations that affect your capacity. We will note any barriers to change, to accessing healthy foods and exercise, and consider what paths forward might best suit. We will note any health risks or needs to refer you onwards.
MANAGE EXPECTATIONS

Ongoing Coaching (Ongoing)
After our first session you will get a summary of what was discussed. I will come up with a range of possible options for an initial path forward that we will discuss in the second session. We will go deeper into these options and into your personal history and usually come up with a clear preliminary plan by the end of session 2. Some clients may request an additional assessment session if they find deeper dialogue work useful.
Working to a Game Plan (SMART and Cyclical Goals)
I’ll always explain clearly and simply why we are doing what we are doing together, what’s going on and how it can help with changes that are long-term. We’ll schedule follow up check-ins as regular as you think necessary, given motivation, budget and time available.
Just like with any successfully guided counselling ((experience)), my goal is to be an empowering and informative support that you can genuinely trust, rely on and be honest with – so you can be honest with yourself. This is the basis to create lasting change. Despite whatever setbacks, I encourage you to feel comfortable coming back anytime – without any guilt or embarrassment – however long the gap between visits. That is the cyclical spirit of ‘reset’ and renewal. All of us need a bit of help and accountability.
